Synium Software presents MacFamilyTree 6 – Genealogy built for Mac

Mainz, Germany – Synium Software today is proud to present MacFamilyTree 6, a major update of the popular and modern genealogy software for Mac OS X. MacFamilyTree 6 is the most significant update in its 12 year product history. Nearly all parts of the application have been improved, incorporating Apple’s latest and most powerful technologies. Several brand new features are introduced with MacFamilyTree 6. What are the most notable among them?

* New Family Tree Editor
Visually create your Family Tree using the whole new edit mode.

* New User Interface
MacFamilyTree’s user interface received a major overhaul for version 6. Choose from four distinct categories when working with MacFamilyTree – Edit, Views, Reports, Export. That way, you’ll always know where in MacFamilyTree you are and what you can do right now.

* New and improved Reports and Charts
MacFamilyTree’s CoreAnimation based charts scale up to a virtually unlimited number of persons and can be exported or printed, of course.

* “New FamilySearch” integration
Search for ancestors and profit from several million person entries in the FamilySearch.org database. Currently in closed beta, available for all users by the end of 2010. FamilySearch.org can be used for free without any subscription fee.

* New Places Management
In MacFamilyTree 6, places are handled in a completely new and more approachable way. Open the Places Editor and have MacFamilyTree automatically scan for places without geo-coordinates. Merge places in case of duplicates and see which events any place was assigned to.

* ToDo Management
Let MacFamilyTree help you keep track of your tasks with the To-Do-List feature. Prioritize and categorize anything that comes to mind and make sure you get to the most urgent matters first but don’t forget about the small details along the way.

* Web Research
Services like EllisIsland, FindAGrave, FootNote, WorldVitalRecords, Ancestry or Google Search can be accessed from within MacFamilyTree with the new Web Research tool.

* Vastly improved performance
Charts and diagrams are created instantaneously. Massive performance gains troughout the whole application. MacFamilyTree 6 runs as a 64 bit application when using 10.6 Snow Leopard

* GEDCOM importer and exporter greatly improved
To name just a few: version 6 now supports ANSEL encoding, as well as UTF-8, UTF-16, Plain ASCII, Mac OS Roman and Windows Latin export

CleanApp 3.4 Detects Duplicate Files, Folders and Applications

Mainz, Germany – Today, Synium Software has released a new version of CleanApp, the popular uninstaller and system maintenance tool. Especially on mobile Macs, hard disk space is precious. Installing new software, downloading video files and creating your own documents all rightfully claim parts of the available space. There is, however, data that you can safely delete: files that aren’t removed when you trash an application, cache files that are no longer needed, applications’ localized versions for languages you don’t speak, as well as files you created for onetime printout a few years back and won’t ever need again.

CleanApp 3.4 introduces the Duplicate Files feature: scan for duplicate files and applications, as well as empty folders anywhere on your system. This release adds support for files created in PathFinder and brings several bug fixes and performance improvements.

As a fully featured maintenance tool, CleanApp can remove Preference Pane items, plugins and widgets, as well as language files and caches. Remove and archive entire applications including all assigned files so you can see if uninstalling that application has any negative effects on the performance and reliability of your system. Transfer this archive file to your backup system and restore the application with all required files and folders or reverse the uninstallation on your main system at any time.

CleanApp’s Logging Service automatically collects data about which files and folders are created during the installation of a new application. The CleanCommunity feature, however, allows you to identify assigned files even if they were created before you started using CleanApp. The community server collects information about the files created during installation from all participating users and shares that information when you tell CleanApp to uninstall the same application.

Main features:
* Identify large files in the graphical Disk Usage view
* Delete applications with CleanApp and choose from the files it suggests for deletion with that application
* Have the Logging Service run in the background and track all file creations and modifications
* Remove the PowerPC or Intel components from Universal Binaries
* Delete unused language packs
* Get uninstall information from the CleanCommunity and profit from other users’ uninstallation experience
* Exclude applications from logging
* Save archives to CD/DVD and restore them at any time

System Requirements:
CleanApp 3 requires Mac OS X 10.4.11 Tiger, Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard or Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. CleanApp runs as “Universal Binary” natively on any PowerPC or Intel Macintosh.

Pricing and Availability:
CleanApp 3 is available for $15 (USD) from our webstore. CleanApp 3.4 is a free update for existing users. Registration codes of any prior version will automatically work with CleanApp 3.

KeyCue – The Keyboard Shortcuts Helper – Gets a Maintenance Release

Hagenberg, Austria – Ergonis Software today released KeyCue 5.1, a maintenance release of the company’s popular keyboard shortcut cheat sheet. KeyCue is quite a handy tool for learning and remembering keyboard shortcuts. Whenever the command key is kept pressed for a while, KeyCue displays a table with all keyboard shortcuts available in the currently active application.

The newest version introduces a new built-in diagnostic tool for application-specific adjustments, increases compatibility with 3rd party applications, and improves overall performance, particularly in Safari. In addition to that, KeyCue 5.1 improves the installation and upgrade experience by displaying a more prominent warning when a new version is not covered by the current license, and by allowing to skip one particular version in the automatic update check.

The productivity paradox of keyboard shortcuts is that shortcuts were designed to increase productivity. However, productivity actually decreases when applications provide large numbers of shortcuts, in particular when the shortcuts are defined inconsistently across applications. KeyCue’s elegantly simple solution is to display an instant overview of currently available keyboard shortcuts – application-specific menu shortcuts as well as system-wide hotkeys. Over time, KeyCue users will automatically remember frequently used shortcuts and start working more efficiently.

KeyCue has already received many awards, including a 4.5-Mice award from MacWorld magazine. KeyCue 5.1 requires Mac OS X version 10.4 or newer. Mac OS X 10.6 or newer is recommended. KeyCue 5.1 is a recommended update for everyone running on Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard).

Availability and Ordering:
KeyCue can be purchased securely on the Ergonis Software website. The upgrade to KeyCue 5.1 is free for anyone who has purchased KeyCue in the last 2 years. For information about purchases, including enterprise licenses, volume discounts, and upgrade pricing offers, see the company’s web site. An Online press kit, including screenshots, is available on the Ergonis Software online. Instead of purchasing KeyCue by itself, customers can get the Macility Productivity Bundle that also contains two of the company’s other productivity tools, PopChar X and Typinator.

Dejumble 2.0 for iPhone – Popular Mac Task Management App Now on iPhone

British Columbia, Canada – Thinking Code Software, Inc., today is pleased to announce Dejumble 2.0 for iPhone, an iPhone compatible version of their best-selling task and note management software for Mac OS X. While simple and straightforward in appearance and operation, the app includes features not found in most other to-do or note taking applications. It also employs proprietary, push sync technology to synchronize with any other Dejumble app running on an iPhone, iPod, iPad, or Mac by means of a free Dejumble Account.

Maintaining the extreme flexibility of Dejumble for Mac, Dejumble for iPhone works equally well for users who want to strictly adhere to GTD (Getting Things Done) principles, follow a prioritization method, just take notes, or simply make an ordinary grocery list. Notes are not an add-on; they are an integral part of the app’s design. Notes are easily created and customized using wiki-style editing for bold, italic, and color text. Any number of subtasks may be embedded within a note.

Dejumble for iPhone features graphical tags and positional prioritization for any entry. While entering the title of a task the user may simultaneously tag it, assigning it a category such as Work or Errands, as well as prioritize it, assigning it a specific, numerical importance such as 3 or 7. Once items have been tagged or prioritized navigation is automatic using the iPhone’s touch screen.

Feature Highlights:
* Tasks and notes together in a simple yet powerful app for iPhone
* Synchronize tasks and notes in real-time with Dejumble for Mac
* Tag and prioritize, set due dates and stay focused
* Add subtasks to notes
* Make notes more effective with basic formatting like bold and italic
* Search tasks using keywords from notes, titles and priorities
* File important completed tasks
* Postpone tasks to another day using the tagging function
* iPad and Web versions of Dejumble under development

The app employs proprietary, push sync technology, keeping all the user’s Dejumble apps on all their wireless devices and computers automatically synchronized. Because all data is centralized in their free on-line Dejumble Account, users need never perform manual synching between devices. An entry in their Dejumble for iPhone app is instantaneously reflected in their Dejumble for Mac application. No matter where they are, or which mobile device or computer they are using, the user has access to the most up-to-date notes and tasks.

“The proprietary, push sync technology in Dejumble 2.0 for iPhone makes it a comprehensive, automatic, task management solution,” stated CEO Allan Phillips. “Users need never again worry about syncing their mobile devices or their computers.”

Device Requirements:
* iPhone or iPod touch
* iOS 3.1.3 or later
* 4.1 MB

Pricing and Availability:
Dejumble 2.0 for iPhone is $4.99 (USD) and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Productivity category. Review copies are available upon request.
